Quality Control Manager

Description
Direct the day to day management of the processes and personnel responsible for determining product compliance from manufacture design through production inspection. This includes, but is not limited to, the oversight and work flow management of all inbound product, the daily supervision and ongoing technical training of all Quality Control Inspectors, the QAS responsible for supporting daily quality operations, working relationship with U.S. Government QAR representative. These responsibilities also necessitate ownership of the inspection portion of Kitco’s internal Operating System, ownership of all associated procedures and work instructions, as well as control of nonconforming product, product disposition, and departmental budget management responsibilities. This position will also function as an inspector within the Quality department.
Qualifications
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Total Quality Management, Engineering or similar, five years of related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASQ Certification preferred. Working knowledge of inspection techniques is essential. Previous experience in managing direct reports required.


Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, professional journals, business periodicals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Must be proficient in the understanding of complex geometric dimensions and tolerances and have the ability to evaluate and interpret complex specifications and blueprints. Must be able to effectively communicate any problems they encounter with upper management, suppliers, and customers.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, commissions, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply advanced algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.


Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent inter-personal skills, a high degree of organizational and problem solving skills, ability to think and work independently, a basic understanding of lean and Six Sigma performance measurements and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Ability to process map, create and modify procedures, instructions and training documents. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, and Access.


Physical Demands: Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, lift up to 35 lbs., work near moving mechanical parts in an environment with moderate noise levels.
